Baby, It's Cold Outside

Good morning,

I hope you are enjoying your week so far! I know it has been a crazy one over here at Nothing But Clean with all of this cold weather we are having and everyone trying to get their homes winter ready. This time of year is always a big time for gutter cleaning, due to all of the storms that travel through with the winter winds, as well as all of the freezing weather which will freeze what is in your gutters and ultimately weigh them down. You got to have properly working, flowing and empty gutters. If not, we all know that can lead to a whole new world of problems. However, I must admit that weather proofing your home does not just start and stop with making sure your Gutters are cleaned. A few other things you may want to have done when trying to prepare your home for the colder weather are window cleaning, house washing (soft washing) and pressure washing of your ground work (cement). Reason being for these is simply because you always want to ensure that before you seal anything i.e. cement, windows, wood, cracks in the exterior walls of your home...you want to make sure that the surfaces are properly cleaned first. This way you give the sealant a chance to truly adhere to the surface. If you seal anything without cleaning first, the chances of it lasting long term are not very likely.

Now I must admit, I never knew any of this before I entered into the industry and saw how many people actually do go about weathering their homes the proper way. I always wondered why and never truly understood until now. Not only from being in the industry myself, but also because I apparently like to learn my lessons the hard way. However, now I do make it a point to make sure I do everything I can to ensure a cozy home for my family. Not to mention, the less cold air you have sneaking into your home; the less your heater will have to run and ultimately the less your electricity bill will be. Which is always a plus, am I right?

The benefits to maintaining the interior and exterior cleaning of your home are truly endless. I know sometimes we don't see it right away, sometimes we are strapped for cash. But I will say the long term benefits are truly endless, whether you plan on flipping a house, living in your forever home, selling your home or having a bunch of rental properties. Maintaining your home is and always will be one of the most important things you can do to protect your investment.

Well, time for me to finish my coffee and get back to work. So until next time :)
