Curb Appeal

Good morning,

It is currently 9AM and I feel like it is 5pm. Talk about a morning. As I am unwinding from the crazy morning and continuing to prep for the day, I got a call from a good real estate friend of ours needing help to get their clients home ready for the market. A big thing, a lot of people don't know, when getting your home ready to sale is that curb appeal is everything. Think about it, as humans we are attracted to pretty and clean things. When something looks dirty on the outside, we rarely ever attempt to approach it, because we assume it is a mess on the inside as well. So a lot of times when going through a real estate company your agent, if you have a good agent, will advise you to get the exterior of your home cleaned before they take pictures and before they post your home for sale on the market. Now don't get me wrong, not all homes need the works. However, our top recommendations before putting your home up for sale are as listed below with a small description as to why:

1. Gutter Cleaning: You want to ensure that the gutters are cleaned and there is not any debris hanging over the side, as that may not seem like not a big deal and ever so small, I am telling you the more well kept your home looks and the more inviting it feels....the faster it will sell.

 2. Interior/ Exterior Window Cleaning: Truly makes windows shine during the day, the clarity in the pictures looks like HD when the sky is reflecting off of your windows. Even if you are getting evening pictures with the house lit up and blinds opened, you will see the clarity in the glass and it is like no other feeling. Screams 'Welcome Home'.

3. Pressure Washing: Pressure washing of your driveway and front walkways I feel is most important over the back walkways because in a sense it opens your walkways up and makes them feel more inviting. Now if you have a pool in the back then I would say all of the flat work definitely needs to be cleaned so it all feels just as equally inviting. You don't want to have a pool in the back with mold around it right? That would just scream run!

4. House Washing/ House Spot Check: This is it to remove all mold, mildew and algae stains from your home. This really makes your home feel like a brand new home for home buyers and like the home has been well kept. Some homes will only need a spot check from the mold, mildew and algae stains. However, some homes that have not been cleaned in a long time or that have never been cleaned will more likely need the full house wash.

5. Roof Cleaning: This helps remove all the mold, mildew and algae stains from the roof. Also, prolongs the life of the roof. Truly feel like if this fits into your budget it is the cherry on top of the cake.

These are our top 5 suggestions when getting your home ready to put up for sale. Now keep in mind not every home will need all of this done, especially homes that have been well kept and maintained. At Nothing But Clean we do provide free on site estimates to let you know what it is that you would most benefit from. I know and understand that unless you are getting a new home built, homes have been lived in but just like when buying a new used car you want to make sure it looks good on the outside and well maintained because then it is more likely to have been taken care of on the inside. You're not going to buy a car that is covered in mud with a bunch of dents and dings are you? You want to feel like the car is new and has never been used before. Well same for your home, your buyer wants to know that 'yes, someone has lived here' but feel as if it is brand new and that no one has ever live there. So keep this in mind when the time comes that you want to sell your home, if you're in the Houston/ Woodlands metroplexes then we have got you covered!

Until next time,

Nothing But Clean
